On site release of research results from the CAICV intelligent vehicle mounted optical display task group
Since the establishment of the CAICV Intelligent Car Light Display Task Force in October 2022, the task force has successively initiated industry research and standard projects such as the car light field screen white paper, AR-HUD performance requirements and testing methods, AR-HUD product scene library design and development system, and HUD creating the first screen for the driver. Relevant discussions and research have been carried out, and repeated discussions and exchanges have been conducted through multiple industry activities, widely soliciting industry opinions.
The White Paper on Car mounted Light Field Screens aims to explore the challenges faced by the development of car mounted screens with the industry, propose solutions and suggestions around the experience innovation, key technologies, industry standards, and other aspects of car mounted light field screens, form an industry consensus on promoting the application of light field screens in cars, and jointly explore the construction of ecological systems.
The white paper points out that the current car screen industry is facing user pain points such as limited size, small frame size, eye injury when viewed at close range, and motion sickness when driving, as well as insufficient layout of cutting-edge innovative technologies. As a new solution for in car display, the in car light field screen adopts unique spatial optical technology, breaking through the limitations of physical space inside the car, and achieving the effect of displaying a super large frame of 35 inches or more at a distance of about 3 meters from the human eye. From the perspective of consumers, car mounted light field screens, due to their unique advantages of large picture size, immersion, eye protection, and low dizziness, can greatly enhance the consumer experience, especially in daily high-frequency scenes such as car viewing, business and office, children's comfort, and gaming entertainment, providing a more comfortable car mounted screen usage experience. From the perspective of automakers, in car screen products have become the focus of differentiated competition among car companies. In terms of entertainment software, in car light field screens have a high degree of integration and good experience, and have the opportunity to become a new traffic entry point for intelligent cabins in the future. Finally, the white paper provides development suggestions from three levels: policy planning, standard regulations, and industry applications.
The report first clarifies the definition of "first screen". The first screen of the driver is the main display carrier of essential information for the driver during the driving process, providing key information. It is the default, most useful, and most important screen for the driver. The advantages of HUD in improving driver safety, comfort, and convenience are gradually becoming prominent. It can not only display basic driving information such as speed and indicator lights, but also synchronously display more comprehensive information such as ADAS, map, navigation, and traffic lights, allowing drivers to completely detach from the instrument panel and central control, making driving safer and more efficient. Therefore, HUD will become a new choice for the first screen of the driver. The report points out that HUD, as the first screen of the driver's seat, has the following advantages:
